2014 Texas Pecan Festival

Event Schedule

The Texas Pecan Festival is “a sure bet!” in 2014 is this year’s theme. The 46th Annual Festival is scheduled for September 18 – 21, 2014. The staff at the Chamber would like to encourage every one of ALL AGES to come and visit the festival.  You can eat your way through the food area with ice cream, funnel cakes, snow cones, pecan pie, curly fries, gumbo, hamburgers, barbecue, pork-a-bobs, boudain balls, nachos, pistolettes, etc., then you can wash it down with freshly squeezed homemade lemonade.  Also, the craft area should have something for everyone. The festival is located at 6200 Jackson in Groves.

The festival runs from Thursday, September 18th through Sunday, September 21st. The Texas Pecan Festival Carnival opens at 5:00 p.m. in Lion’s Park on Thursday, September 18th, with the craft and food booths opening at 5:00 p.m. on Friday, September 19th. Additionally, there will be entertainment and events which will run throughout the weekend. THERE IS NO CHARGE FOR ADMISSION.

Arm Bands will be available on Thursday, September 18th for the price of $22.00 and for Friday, September 19th for the price of $22.00. Arm Bands will also be available for Saturday, September 20th. The price will be $22.00 from 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. and $22.00 from 5:00 p.m. to close or you may purchase an ALL-DAY Arm Band for $35.00. On Sunday, September 21st, Arm Bands will be available for $22.00 from 12 noon until 6:00 p.m.  This will allow an Arm Band holder to ride on the day of purchase. Arm Bands will be on sale in the carnival area at the ticket booth in Lion’s Park. Arm Band Sponsors are: Thursday night – MARKET BASKET, Friday night – Medical Center of SETX, and Saturday night – Gulf Credit Union.

The Texas Pecan Festival TREASURE HUNT, sponsored by Levingston Funeral Home, starts on Monday, September 15th. This year’s Chairperson is Brandin Shaw.

The Horseshoe Tournament - The Horseshoe Tournament will be held in Lion’s Park, located at 6200 Jackson, on Sunday, September 21st.  The Chairperson is Brad Bailey.

The Texas Pecan Festival Parade will begin at 10 a.m. Saturday, September 20th . Line up will begin at 9:00 a.m. by entering from Terrell Street onto Cleveland Avenue. The parade begins at 39thSt. at Cleveland Ave., heads west on 39th St.  Then travels down 39th St. to Gulf Ave. where the parade ends after making a right turn on Gulf Ave. The Chairperson is Paul Patin.

The Pie Eating Contest, sponsored by Merle Norman & Bella Boutique, will be Saturday, September 20th, at 2:00 p.m. at Lion’s Park in the Center Tent area. The Chairperson is Terri Melancon.

The Cooking with Pecans Contest, sponsored by Oak Grove Nursing Home, will be held on Saturday, September 20th at 5:00 p.m. at Lion’s Park in the Center Tent Area. The Co-Chairpersons are Angel Contreras and Karen Theis.

The Texas Pecan Festival Pet Show, sponsored by Wilcox Veterinary Clinic, will be Sunday, September 21st, at 1:00 p.m. at the Lee Rodgers Pavilion located in Lion’s Park. Pet Show registration begins at 12 noon. The Chairperson is Carol Sigona.
